Recipes and Folders

There are many things you can do to organize your recipes once you have added them to your CookBook. This section details all the different ways you can interact with your saved recipes, and how you can create and use folders for further organization of your CookBook.

Moving Recipes and Folders around in your CookBook

CookBuddy makes it easy to move your recipes and your folders around in your CookBook. Just drag and drop any recipe or folder with the mouse (or your finger if on mobile) where you want them to be in your CookBook. It's as simple as that!

Removing Recipes

Have a recipe in your CookBook that you don't think you are going to use anymore? Follow along with these instructions to learn how to remove it from your CookBook:

  • Click the Edit button. While in your CookBook, press the Edit button. This will put your CookBook in editing mode.

  • Click the red "x" button. Click the red "x" button on the left side of the recipe you wish to delete. This will bring up a popup confirming that you are sure you would like to delete this recipe.

  • Click the "Remove Recipe" button. Click the red Remove Recipe button to finish removing your recipe from your CookBook. You should see the recipe you selected disappear from your CookBook immediately.

Important things to keep in mind

Make sure to be careful when removing recipes from your CookBook. This action is irreversible and CANNOT be undone. The only way to recover a recipe that has been removed from your CookBook is to readd it using a link to the original recipe like you did when you first added it.

Adding Folders

Folders are an incredibly effective way of adding a new layer of organization to your CookBook. Follow these instructions to create a new folder for you to store your recipes in:

  • Click the folder icon. While in your CookBook, press the button with the folder symbol and a + sign on the right side of the CookBook header. This will bring up a popup that will allow you to create a new folder in your CookBook.

  • Enter a name for your new folder. Come up with a good name for your new folder to be called and enter it into the input bar.

  • Click the "Add Folder" button. Click the green Add Folder button to finish creating your new folder. You should see your new folder appear just about immediately in your CookBook.

Now you have a brand new folder in your CookBook to store your recipes in! Go check out the next section in this guide if you want to learn how to move recipes into your folders.

Adding Recipes to Folders

After you have created some folders, you will most likely want to move some recipes into them. All you have to do to move a recipe into a folder is drag and drop the recipe on top of the folder you want to put it in.

You can also do this with folders that you want to store inside of other folders. Just drag and drop the folder into another folder the same way you would a recipe and it will get added to the folder. This allows for more intricate folder organization for your CookBook, if you're the type of cook who enjoys having their recipes very organized.

Removing Recipes from Folders

Don't like which folder you put a recipe into anymore? All you need to do is drag the recipe with your mouse and drop it onto the drop area that will appear when you pick up the recipe. This will move the recipe to the outside of the folder.

You can also do the same thing with folders that are inside of other folders. Just drag and drop the folder into the drop zone as if it were a recipe and it will also be moved to the outside of the folder it was inside of.

Removing Folders

Done using a particular folder in your CookBook? Follow along with these instructions to learn how to remove it from your CookBook:

  • Click the Edit button. While in your CookBook, press the Edit button. This will put your CookBook in editing mode.

  • Click the red "x" button. Click the red "x" button on the left side of the folder you wish to delete. This will bring up a popup confirming that you are sure you would like to delete this folder.

  • Click the "Remove Folder" button. Click the red Remove Folder button to finish removing your folder from your CookBook. You should see the folder you selected disappear from your CookBook immediately.

Important things to keep in mind

Make sure to be careful when removing folders from your CookBook. By removing a folder, you will also remove all the recipes and other folders that you have inside of it from your CookBook as well. This action is irreversible and CANNOT be undone, so if you plan on removing a folder but keeping the recipes inside of it make sure you move all the recipes and folders you wish to keep out of it before removing the folder itself.
